PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Community College (BCC) presents an art show called "The Reflection Series" by artist Karen Bognar Khan, on view Tuesday, Sept. 8 through Friday, Oct. 23 in the Koussevitzky Art Gallery, located on BCC's main campus at 1350 West Street, Pittsfield. 

 

An exhibition opening will be held in the Koussevitzky lobby on Friday, Sept. 11 from 4-7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served. 

 

The exhibition features still-life works created in a style the artist calls "a fantasy environment of shapes and light, and of course reflections." She uses mirrors to help dissolve surfaces or planes and create a more complex dimensional space. The works, which feature geometric shapes and an eclectic array of artistic materials, explore the notion of identity as fluid and relational, connected to the larger forces of the universe, stated a press release. 

 

About the artist

Karen Bognar Khan was born and raised in a suburb of Pittsburgh, PA. She earned a bachelor of fine arts from Carnegie Mellon University, where she studied painting and sculpture, followed by studies of illustration at The Parsons School of Design in New York and figurative studies at The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art.
