Recollections & Sympathy For the Family

I was very sad to hear that Claire has passed away. I first met her in 1996 when I started work as the Volunteer Coordinator at North Adams Regional Hospital. Not long after that, she started to work in my office as my part-time office volunteer. We made a great team. Claire was a great help to me during the ten years that I worked at the hospital. She carefully tallied the 80+ volunteers’ hours every month and helped me with mailings, the Junior Volunteer Program and the end of year volunteer recognition event at The Williams Inn. When I left the hospital to work elsewhere, I just couldn’t stay in touch with all of the wonderful volunteers. I did make an exception for Claire, however. We were pleased when I got a job in Williamstown which enabled me to visit her at lunchtime at The Spruces and then later at Holy Family once a month or so. I brought my brown bag lunch but she always made sure she had a yummy dessert for me! I continued to visit her when I could at Hillcrest but we both knew it just wasn’t the same. Six long years there for Claire but she bore them well. Rest in peace, dear Claire.
