Marjorie A. Bissaillon, 91

ADAMS, Mass. —  With great sadness, we announce the loss of our beloved mother, Marjorie Ann McKenna Bissaillon, who passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at the impressive age of 91. She maintained her Irish independence right to the end. Born on May 23, 1934, in Adams, she would remain a lifelong resident and would always ask others, "Are you from Adams?" That was her ice-melting hello.

Born to Ralph and Cyrilla (Cassidy) McKenna, she grew up on Maple Street and graduated with the Adams High School Class of 1952, where she played in the band. She then lived for many years on lower Orchard Street in the green house with the red door.

Her career took her from Woolworths to Mass Electric, to the Adams schools, and to the local cable company, where she retired as the office manager in 1999. Following retirement, she worked for 15 years at the 1896 House, counting the money. She volunteered for many years at the Charity Center, below her beloved St. Thomas Church in Adams, where she was a longtime loyal parishioner, and for the St. John Paul Parish. She loved to volunteer!

She was also a longtime member and proud past president of the Northern Berkshire Business and Professional Women’s organization. She was always championing young people about their careers and encouraging them to work hard.

She was most proud of her three sons and their athletic, hiking and professional accomplishments. She attended hundreds of sporting events and was a part of many booster clubs. She took great pride in seeing them all graduate from college and onto their individual lives. She made lifelong friends with many of her sons' and grandson's youth, high school and college friends. Everyone knew Marge.

She had a special relationship with her grandson, Tyler, and happily took on the title of Gramma Marge. She enjoyed many family vacations to Scott's home in Maine and traveled to Europe with her late dear friend, Ruth McBride. She had many fine dinners with her cousin Barbara and Marge had many friends from many generations and always enjoyed a good conversation, no matter where she was.

She leaves three sons: Scott of Largo, Florida; David (Pam) of Adams; and Gary (Trina) and granddaughter Hannah and great-granddaughter Raelynn of Auburn, N.Y. She also leaves her grandson Tyler and granddaughter Lisa (and Alyssa) as well as great-grandson Ethan and his sister Lena.

She is predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Cyrilla and Albin Krzeminski, and her grandson Christopher Corkins. Her former husband, Robert Bissaillon, died in 2002.

In a life well-lived, she always searched out a common connection with people, young and old. It was that common denominator that kept her curious for 91 years. She will also miss Joan, Anita and Evelyn, the McDonalds Gang, the Council on Aging, the ladies at Greylock Apartments, and so many others.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held on Saturday, July 19, at 10 a.m. in PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery.

Calling hours are Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Contributions in Marge's name can be made to the Friends of the Adams Council on Aging, 3 Hoosac St., Adams, MA 01220 or to the Adams Theater, 27 Park St. (where Marge used to own a shoe store!) Adams, MA 01220.

Marge was such a lovely lady. My brothers and neighborhood friends were so blessed to have had her in our lives. She was my mom 's soulmate and like a second mother to us. Her kindness and the link to special memories of the closeknit neighborhood of Lower Orchard as well as to my mother will be sorely missed. Everyone who called Marge a friend was very fortunate indeed. Condolences to Ty, Dave, Gary, Scott

Sorry to hear of your Mothers passing. She certainly lived a good life and made an impression on many people and will be missed. It’s been many years since I saw your Mother. Your Mother was my God Mother and one of the last times I saw her was at my wedding. She always brought a smile and much happiness to everyone. I always think of her and the rest of the good times we had with your family when I would drive by the green house with the red door. Our condolences from the entire Neveu family.

It’s obvious she was quite a wonderful woman as she raised an incredible man and dear friend of mine, David, aka Cash. I know her Irish eyes will always be smiling down with pride.

Scott, David, Gary and your families, Please take solace in the fact that your mom lived a long life, well-lived with generosity and caring. I have no doubt that she welcomed all of her children's friends into her home with open arms. For that I will always be grateful and remember to this day, five decades later.

Mrs. Bissaillon was a central figure and OG in the classic 1970's neighborhood of lower Orchard and East Streets . How lucky we kids were to grow up in that time and place and to have wonderful people like Marge watching over us. It was also amazing when she chased a purse snatcher all the way down Center Street. Thank you Mrs. Bizz! Cheers!

I am so sad to hear of Marge’s passing. I first got to know her back in 1973 when I began my teaching career at Commercial Street School. She was then the building secretary. Years later, when we both had retired, we worked together at the SJP Charity Center. Marge was such a treasure. She’ll be missed by everyone who knew her. And she knew a lot of people.

Gary, Scott, and David. Your Mom was an angel on this earth. I recently spoke to her on the phone so her passing has left me in a daze. She always filled me in on how her family was doing. She was so proud of all of you. Talk about her often and keep sharing all the good memories. I for one am going to miss her very much. May she rest in peace and join all the other angels above.

I am deeply sorry to hear of Mrs. Bissaillon's passing; I just ran into Dave visiting her last week, and was hoping she would on the mend. Between growing up with Gary and my grandmother working with Mrs. Bissaillon, I know firsthand she was a person of the highest quality. I hope your family will have each other and the best of memories to hold on to. May you find that a comfort in your time of grief. Take care.

I counted money at the church on Mondays with Marge. Whenever a holiday fell on a Monday, Marge would remind all of us that the next week we would have to count on Tuesday because we couldn’t make the deposit on a Monday holiday. When she retired from counting with us, we often didn’t remember to tell everyone not to come next Monday if it was a holiday. She never forgot! Miss her.

So sad to read that Marge passed. She was a gentle, kind person that always remembered her friends. She was always interested to know how everyone else was doing. She will be missed.
from: LYNDA SHAFERon: 07-16-2025

Marge was a second mother to the McBride kids, who lived next-door to the Bissaillons on Orchard Street, for our whole childhood. It’s more accurate to say the two families shared two houses in a way. It’s hard for me to imagine today.

Managing eight kids and two frequently challenging husbands, Marge and Ruth, spent the rare quiet moment together over a coffee, working through life’s ups and downs. Together they found ways to be independent, safe and authentic - no doubt cherishing that mutual support. Over 50 years in the same houses, side by side. So grateful for her presence, her kindness and her wit.

Hugs to Scott, Dave and Gary our brothers, truly.

I’m so sad. Marge was a sweet, dear woman. She was at all the school and sporting events supporting you Bizz brothers and cheering for every kid there. I certainly feel like I was one of those lifelong friends mentioned here. One of the best parts of growing up in Adams is having your friends’ moms feel like family. I’m thinking of you all.
