Stanley M. Gliwski Jr, 84

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —  Stanley Michael Gliwski Jr, 84 of North Adams, MA died on Sunday March 22, 2026 at Berkshire Medical Center.

Stan was born in Adams, MA on January 13, 1942 to Stanley Michael Gliwski and Mary (Pado) Gliwski. He graduated from the former Adams High School and was a veteran of the US Navy, where he served on the destroyer USS Hugh Purvis (DD-709).

After the Navy, Stan worked at GE in its Power Transformer Division for many years until his retirement. After retirement, he continued working for several years as a carpenter at a startup that would become Moresi and Associates.

Stanley was a communicant of the former Notre Dame du Scare Coeur Church and was a member of the American Legion. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, golf, snowmobiling and constructing model airplanes.

Stan appreciated the simple things in life. Cookouts, drinks with friends, and time spent in the woods or on the water were some of his favorite activities. Though Stanley had a tough exterior, those close to him knew he was a sensitive and generous soul. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren very much and was always there whenever they needed him. Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Uncle, Friend…Stan will be remembered fondly and missed.

Stanley is survived by his wife, Nancy Ann (Tremblay) Gliwski and two sons, Michael David Gliwski of South Hadley, MA and Matthew Joseph Gliwski of North Adams. He also leaves three grandchildren, Bryce Thomas Bernier-Gliwski, Cason Matthew Bernier-Gliwski and Maja Florence Welborn-Gliwski; his brother Daniel Gliwski and his wife, Gail of Naples, FL and nieces and nephews.

I'm so sorry for your loss Gliwski's. It took a minute for Stan to warm up to me, but I have fond memories of hanging up on the hill with him growing up. Once we became buddies, I always enjoyed trying to make him smile or laugh.
