Ralph Blanchard Sr., 84

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Ralph Verne Blanchard Sr., 84, of 28 Dover St. died Saturday, July 6, 2002, at North Adams Regional Hospital, where he was admitted June 29. Born in North Adams on May 19, 1918, son of Danforth V. and Doretta Brown Blanchard, he was educated in local schools and was a 1936 graduate of the former Williamstown High School. Mr. Blanchard was employed by the former Robert Steele's Modern Dairy as a wholesale milk deliverer for more than 28 years until the company ceased operations. He also was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. and by the former R.J. Widen Tannery. He retired in 1979. He was a lifelong communicant of Notre Dame Church. He and his wife, the former Dorothy Rita Theberge, would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary Aug. 20. They were married in Notre Dame Church. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Dr. Ralph V. Blanchard Jr. of Lanesborough; two sisters, Doris Gaudette of the town of Florida and Muriel Goodrich of Clarksburg; two brothers, Danforth H. "Red" Blanchard of Clarksburg and Lyle A. Blanchard of North Adams, and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Charlotte Blanchard Goodrich in 1944. FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Mr. Blanchard will be Tuesday, July 9, at 10 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at Notre Dame Church. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday, July 8, from 5 to 8. Memorial donations may be made to the Pulmonary & Respiratory Diseases Association through the funeral home, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.
