Melva Heelan Hoynoski, 91

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Melva Heelan Hoynoski, 91, of 211 Reservoir Road, Westfield, a native of North Adams, died early Wednesday morning, March 12, 2003,at East Longmeadow Nursing Home. Born on June 24, 1911, daughter of Calix "Chick" and Edith Trombley Roy, she attended local schools and moved to Westfield in 1952. Mrs. Hoynoski was employed at Steiger's Department Store for many years and was a member of the Moose Club, both in Westfield. Her husband, Anthony Hoynoski, whom she married March 1, 1952, died in October 1989. She leaves a son, James G. Heelan of North Palm Beach, Fla.; a stepson, Joseph Hoynoski and his wife, Sandy, of Westfield; three brothers, Rolland Roy of Pownal, Vt., and Lionel E. Roy and George C. Roy, both of North Adams; three sisters, Exilda Suprenant of Adams, and Beatrice Pierce and Rita Styczynski, both of North Adams; four grandchildren, Stephen Heelan and Susan Horton of North Palm Beach, Fla.; Sheryl Steele of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Shaun Heelan of Avon, Conn., several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Another brother, Donald Roy, is deceased. FUNERAL NOTICE â€' The funeral for Mrs. Hoynoski will be Saturday at 8:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a funeral Mass at 9 at Our Lady of Mercy Church, State Road, North Adams. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday from 5 to 8.
