Wayne Stephen Boyce

Wayne Stephen Boyce, 70, of 157 Mohawk Trail died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital after being stricken earlier at home. He was a former town selectman. Born in Nashua, N.H., on Jan. 29, 1935, he attended schools there. He lived in the Boston area until moving to Florida in 1964. He enlisted in the Air Force at age 17 and served during the Korean War. He received several medals. Mr. Boyce was employed for 42 1/2 years by the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety as a state parole officer, retiring in 1997. He was a communicant of St. Francis' Church in North Adams and a former member of the Florida Lions Club, where he served as secretary. He and his wife, the former Ruth Wilkins, were married Oct. 12, 1957, at St. John's Church in North Chelmsford. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Erin Hopkins of North Adams; three sons, W. Steven Boyce of East Kingston, N.H., Mark Boyce of North Adams and Christian Boyce of Dallas, and seven grandchildren. Another daughter, Kellie Ann Boyce, died June 7, 1972. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Wayne Stephen Boyce, who died April 25, 2005, will be held Thursday at 10:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. A reception will follow at the American Legion in North Adams. Private burial will take place at a later date. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for the Kellie Ann Boyce Memorial Scholarship Fund through the Florida PTG or for the Florida Volunteer Fire Department through the funeral home. Survivors also include his beloved grandchildren, Nicholas, Katharine,Jacob and Rebecca Hopkins of North Adams, Vincent and Joshua Boyce of Dallas, and Carson Boyce of North Adams; a cousin, Edward Stone and his wife, Nancy; his son-in-law, Paul Hopkins, and daughters-in-law, Kelli Boyce and Aida Boyce. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
