Audrey Jane Schwarzer

Audrey Jane Schwarzer, 76, of 7 Daniels Terrace died Monday afternoon at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield, where she had been a patient since May 25. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on March 11, 1929, daughter of Edwin C. and Estelle Ayer Miller, she was a graduate of George Washington High School in Alexandria, Va., and attended Vermont College in Montpelier. A bookkeeper, Mrs. Schwarzer was employed by the former Country Charm Restaurant in Cheshire for 15 years. Before that, she worked at the former Plunkett Memorial Hospital in Adams for nine years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Adams and a member of its Women's WatchCare Fellowship and Bible Study Group. She was also a member of the Ladies' Reading Club of Cheshire, said to be the oldest reading club in the country. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, painting and going to Christmas bazaars. Her husband, Harry R. Schwarzer, whom she married July 31, 1948, died May 27, 1982. She leaves two sons, Jerry R. Schwarzer of Sarasota, Fla., and David B. Schwarzer of Ulysses, Kan.; two daughters, Lisa Krell of Lanesborough and Wendy Polak of Smithfield, R.I.; a sister, Diane Cunningham of Alexandria; 10 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Audrey J. Schwarzer, who died Monday, May 30, will be conducted Saturday, June 4, at 9 at First Baptist Church, 15 Commercial St., Adams, by the Rev. Donald E. Gray, pastor. Burial will follow in Cheshire Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 at DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME, 121 North State Road, Cheshire. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 445, Cheshire, MA 01225.
