Letezia L. "Letty" Demo

Letezia L. "Letty" Demo, 95, of 101 North St. died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Elizabeth Spellios, at 3 Blueberry Hill Road, Wilbraham. Born in Calabria, Italy on Oct. 6, 1909, daughter of Saverio and Nicolina Gagliano Esposito, she emigrated to North Adams at the age of 4 and attended the former St. Joseph's Grammar School. Mrs. Demo was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. for 25 years, retiring in 1974. She also worked at the former Gale Shoe Co. and at the former Boston Store. She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a member of its Rosary Society and bazaar committee, and a member of the Sprague Quarter Century Club and Sprague Retirees. She was well-known for her seamstress work and crafts. Her husband, Joseph J. Demo Sr., whom she married June 22, 1933, died in November 1966. Besides her daughter, she leaves two sons, Joseph J. Demo Jr. of Berlin, Md., and Naples, Fla., and William J. Demo, of Ithaca, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Letezia "Letty" Demo will be Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005 at 10:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, with a Funeral Mass at 11 at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Burial in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 at the funeral home. Donations to the St. Anthony Capital Campaign or BayState Hospice in care of the funeral home. Survivors include a son-in-law, Louis Spellios; two daughters-in-law, Mary Ann and Sara; a sister-in-law, Mary Esposito, and nieces and nephews. Seven brothers and sisters are deceased, Frank, Horace and Dominic Esposito, Jessie Scavo, Theresa Trozzi, Mary Arabia and Lucy Cozzaglio.
