Kenneth Paul Boillat

Kenneth Paul Boillat, 74, of 4101 Mockingbird Drive, Boynton Beach, Fla., and Florida, Mass., died Friday afternoon at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. Born in North Adams on Oct. 27, 1930, son of Armand and Eva Cross Boillat, he attended schools there. He moved to the state of Florida in 1977 and since the 1980s has wintered there and summered in Florida, Mass. Mr. Boillat was last employed as a driver for Dufour Bus Lines, retiring in 1997. He first worked as a delivery driver for the former Millbrook bread Co. for many years. He then owned and operated a franchise for the Mr. Softee Corp. form 1972 to 1977. From 1986 to 1992, he worked at the former Oxygen Welding Supply Co. He was a longtime official in the Town of Florida, where he served on the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Cemetery Commission, and was director of Civil Defense and a clerk for the Police Department. He had also been a police officer for the Town of Cheshire for two years. He was a communicant of Notre Dame Church, where he served as an usher for many years. He also served on the Catholic Stewardship Appeal for the Diocese of Springfield for 20 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 69 of Albany, N.Y., the Mountain Club of Adams, the former Royal Blue Pioneers Drum Corps, the former North Adams Eagles Drum Corps, and the Berkshire Rangers, and worked as a volunteer for the Fall Foliage Parade for many years. He was a ham radio operator since 1965 and a licensed private pilot since 1976. His wife, the former Irene A. Lussier, whom he married June 28, 1952, died Dec. 17, 2000. He leaves a son, A. Paul Boillat of North Adams; two daughters, Deborah Perras of North Adams and Denise Swistak of Adams, and four grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Kenneth P. Boillat will be Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 9 from the AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 46 North Church St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in Church Cemetery in Florida, Mass. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Eternal World Television Network through the funeral home. He also leaves a daughter-in-law, Cheryl, and two sons-in-law, George Perras Jr. and Stanley Swistak Jr.
