Francis P. McMorrow

Francis P. McMorrow, 100, of 28 Pine St. died Saturday at Fairview Commons Nursing Center. Born in Peter Head, Scotland, on April 10, 1906, son of Peter and Mary Keany McMorrow, he was educated in Scotland. He emigrated to the United States as a young man, settling in New York, and became a U.S. citizen on Aug. 6, 1936. He moved to Great Barrington in 1967. A Navy veteran of World War II, he served with the Seabees in the Philippines. Mr. McMorrow was employed by New York City Transit Authority, retiring in 1961. He was a communicant of St. Peter's Church and a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in New York, and a past treasurer of the Democratic Committee. He enjoyed playing golf and collecting stamps and coins. He and his wife, the former Virginia Griffin, were married July 12, 1967. He leaves a sister, Judith Reynolds of London. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Francis P. McMorrow, who died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, will be conducted Thursday at 11 at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. William Murphy. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 to 11, preceding the funeral. Expressions of sympathy in Francis' memory may be made to the St. Peter's Restoration Fund, in care of BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. He also leaves two brothers-in-law, John Griffin of Plaistow, N.H., and William P. Griffin of Vero Beach, Fla., and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Nan Scyth, and by two brothers, Peter and Jack McMorrow.
