Philip J. Burro, 52
CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Philip Jerome Burro, 52, died Saturday, July 14, 2001, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield shortly after being admitted. He was a former longtime resident of Clarksburg.
Born in Adams on Sept. 11, 1948, son of Angelo J. and Edna Mary Champney Burro, he was educated in Clarksburg schools and was a 1966 graduate of Drury High School in North Adams, Mass.
An Army veteran, he served as a specialist fourth grade with Company C, 122nd Signal Battalion, Eighth Army, until his discharge in 1971.
Mr. Burro was employed by the North Adams Police Department until joining the security force at GE in Pittsfield as a fire inspector sergeant. He completed 35 years of service with GE, Martin Marietta Corp. and General Dynamics Corp. He was first employed by GE Plastics until he entered the Army in 1969.
He was a communicant of St. Francis' Church in North Adams and a member of the GE Quarter Century Club.
He leaves a sister, Paula A. Shoots of Clarksburg, and two brothers, Angelo J. Burro Jr. and Gary A. Burro, both of Clarksburg.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Mr. Burro will take place Friday, July 20, at 9 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams. Burial will be at a later date in Clarksburg Cemetery.
