Angelo J. Bettega

Angelo J. Bettega, 87, of 46 Railroad St. died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Gambellara, Italy, on Oct. 31, 1919, son of Tullio and Agnes Capitanio Bettega, he moved to Pittsfield in 1929 and was educated in local schools. Mr. Bettega was an Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1942 to 1945. After the service, he returned to General Electric Co. in Pittsfield, where he had worked prior to the war. He retired in 1980 from the power transformer department, where he was a divisional steward for Local 255 AFl-CIO. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member of Berkshire Hills Council 314 Knights of Columbus, Lee Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 893 and Greenock Country Club. He was also a life member of G. Marconi Lodge 1620 Sons of Italy and enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf and watching the Yankees. He and his wife, the former Maria "Lena" Zerneri Zatorski, were married Dec. 14, 1946. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, David J. Zatorski of Pittsfield; a daughter, Patricia Stafford of Northbridge; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A son, Theodore Zatorski, died in 1995. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Lee. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours. KELLY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements. Friends wishing may make donations to St. Mary's School, in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238. Angelo also leaves his beloved grandchildren, Hilary, Wesley, Dayna, Michele, Jennifer, William, Shannon and Kara. He also leaves his son-in-law, Ralph, and his daughter-in-law, Lauren. A brother, Balsimino, and three sisters, Lucy Nolli, Gloria Gamari and Norma Bettega, are deceased.
