Ashley Remington Johnson

Ashley Remington Johnson, 26, of High Street, West Stockbridge, died Tuesday at home. Born in New Britain, Conn., on May 27, 1981, son of Carl Johnson and Susan Gill Johnson Glasser. Ashley attended school in New Britain, Conn., and West Hartford, Conn., and graduated from Monument Mountain High School in Great Barrington. He later attended Berkshire and Greenfield community colleges. He was employed by Steve Levine Masonry, and was completing a massage therapy course at the Kripalu Institute. He enjoyed skydiving, hiking, reading, karaoke and yoga. Besides his father, of Berlin, Conn., and his mother, of West Stockbridge, he leaves his stepmother, Sally Johnson of Berlin; his stepfather, Michael Glasser, of West Stockbridge; three brothers, Alexander Johnson of West Hartford, Conn., Stephen Johnson of North Conway, N.H., and Curt Hayden of Northampton; a sister, Samantha Johnson of West Stockbridge; a stepsister, Kate Hayden of Berlin; his paternal stepgrandparents, Jack and Florence Glasser of West Stockbridge; and stepgrandparents Horace and Clara Ellen Van Dorn of Berlin. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A service celebrating the life of Ashley Remington Johnson, who died Tuesday, June 12, 2007, will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington. A graveside service will be Saturday morning at 10:30 at the West Stockbridge Cemetery on Route 41, conducted by the Rev. Belle Fox-Martin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either The Berkshire Humane Society or The Farrell Treatment Center through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. Ashley had a great talent with his hands, which he demonstrated in his vocation at Steve Levine Masonry. He enjoyed being on the move with his friends and giving massages. He was never one to hold a grudge and offered comfort, consolation, and a wry wit to those in need. Above all else in his life, Ashley prioritized relationships with friends and family.
