Angelina DelMolino, 88

GREAT BARRINGTON â€' Angelina "Angie" DelMolino, 88, died Friday, May 23, 2008, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, surrounded by her family. Born Sondrini in Postalesio, Italy, on Feb. 23, 1920, she attended Italian schools and, as a young woman, worked in the farm fields of Germany and Switzerland. She emigrated to the United States to join her husband, Elia Severino DelMolino, who had been working as a stone mason and farmer for three years in Great Barrington. They had been separated because of the U.S. quota system. The couple operated a farm at 31 Pearl St., producing traditional Italian sausage, salami, cheese and wine from Zinfandel grapes. They shared the bounty of their farm with family and friends. Mrs. DelMolino also worked for the Lipski, Hebert, Bauman, Carpenter, Genneri and D'Anello families. She was a cook, child-care provider, housekeeper and confidante to the households she served. She also worked at the former Vesper Hill facility, caring for disabled children. She was a communicant of St. Peter's Church. Her priorities always centered around her family. She enjoyed working in her flower beds and vegetable gardens, knitting socks, cooking, and making sure everyone's necessities were taken care of before her own needs. She served others without regard to her own needs. Her family said they don't believe she considered serving others as work. She didn't retire until age 86. Her husband, whom she married Jan. 8, 1944, in Saint Antonio Church in Postalesio, died March 19, 1985. She leaves a son, Renzo DelMolino of Glendale; two daughters, Marina Wilbur of Great Barrington and Anna DelMolino of Berbenno, Italy, and five grandhildren, Enrico, Alicia Anna, Elia, Samuel and Sergio DelMolino. Another son, Enrico DelMolino, died in 1999. FUNERAL NOTICE â€' Services for Angelina DelMolino, who died Friday, May 23, 2008, will be Monday, May 26, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 8 a.m. at St. Peter's Church by the Rev. William P. Murphy, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family will receive friends Sunday, May 25, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Birches-Roy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Peter's Renovation Fund in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
