Theodore J. Ostrobinski, 86
ADAMS, Mass. — Theodore J. Ostrobinski, 86, of 1 Weber St. died Saturday evening, Nov. 22, 2008, at home, surrounded by his family.
Born in Adams on Dec. 22, 1921, son of John and Anna Walach Ostrobinski, he attended Adams schools.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served with Company C, 247th Engineer Combat Battalion in the European theater, including in Normandy, France.
Mr. Ostrobinski was employed as a police officer for 30 years by the Adams Police Department, beginning as a provisional patrolman in 1956. He was appointed to a permanent position in 1960 and retired in 1986. He also worked part time for Trotter Pringle Funeral home in Adams for 40 years.
He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and a former member and past president of the St. Stanislaus Kostka Society. He was a member of American Legion Post 160 and Veterans of Foriegn Wars Post 1995.
His wife, the former Celia Nowak, whom he married Nov. 9, 1946, died Feb. 24, 2004.
He leaves two sons, Daniel Ostrobinski and his wife, Cynthia, and Paul Ostrobinski, all of Adams; a sister, Helen Chouinard of North Adams; a grandson, Mark Ostrobinski of Adams; his longtime caretaker, Doreen Bunn, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Stanley, Walter and Daniel Ostrobinski, and by three sisters, Mary Gancarz, Genevieve Morandi and Adella Poplaski.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Theodore J. Ostrobinski will take place Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 9 a.m. from Trottier-Pringle Funeral Home, 6 Summer St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Stanislaus' Church celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Catholic Community of Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday, Nov. 25, from 4 to 7. Donations in his memory may be made St. Stanislaus' School through the funeral home.
