PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Dan Flynn and Sam Dils scored to give Mount Greylock a 2-1 win over Taconic on Monday afternoon.

The Mounties bounced back from a non-league loss at Amherst on Saturday by scoring twice in the first 10 minutes on Monday afternoon, and Cal Filson made three saves to help the lead stand up.

"We did well to bounce back from the thrashing we took on Saturday," Mount Greylock coach Blair Dils said. "We had to adjust a few things with an injury to Felix Kershaw, but the team responded well. Scoring two goals in the first 15 minutes helped settle us down.

"We continue to work on our defending. Even though Cal [Filson] wasn't able to get the shutout today, the entire team was committed to defending and slowing down Nda and Boua. If you can keep those two off the board, then you have a very good shot at winning the game."

Flynn got the scoring started with an unassisted tally in the sixth minute.

"It was encouraging to see Dan Flynn get his name in the scoresheet," Dils said. "He works terribly hard all the time, and today his efforts paid off. Dan won harrassed the defender, won a ball, and laced a nice high shot over the keeper that skimmed off the crossbar and in."

Grant Raphael set up Sam Dils' goal with a through ball. Dils converted from 25 yards out for his team-high seventh goal this season.

Mount Greylock (7-2-1) hosts West Springfield on Wednesday.

"We're excited to play West Springfield on Wednesday," Blair Dils said. "We last played them 13 years ago so we're looking forward to this rare opportunity. They're a classy and skilled team that will challenge us all over the field."
