GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- Lee, Taconic and McCann Tech opened the 2025-26 Berkshire County High School Bowling League season with 3-0 wins on Friday at Cove Bowling and Entertainment.

The Wildcats upended reigning state champion Monument Mountain behind a 213 game and 392 series from Maddie Kotek.

Kotek had the top scores recorded by a girl in Friday's action. Her teammate Devyn Fillio was behind her with a 365 two-game series, and Jaden Parks and Nate Terry each cracked 300 with series of 353 and 326, resepectively.

The day's top performance also came in the Lee-Monument match. The Spartans' Mason Bailey set the bar high for the league's top game this winter when he started the season's first meet with a 269.

Bailey started his season with a strike, picked up one-pin spares in the second and third frames and then rolled nine straight strikes.

TaConic topped city rival Pittsfield with Parker Maguire, Luzis Brown and ninth-grader Danielle Mathes each rolling series in the 300s. Maguire just missed joining Bailey in the 400 club, rolling games of 219 and 180 for a 399 series.

Jamari Carnute did crack 400 to lead PHS, rolling a 224 game and 418 series, both second to Bailey in the league.

McCann Tech opened the year with a sweep of Mount Everett.

Reilly Lefebvre, Connor Snow and Ryder Lefebvre each cracked 300 in his two-game series. Ryder Lefebvre rolled a 174 game that was high for the Hornets.

For Mount Everett, Finn Vion rolled the day's third 400 series, posting a 409.

This Friday, the league is back at Cove, site of the 2026 Massachusetts State Team Championships. McCann Tech will take on Taconic in a battle of teams with 3-0 marks.

Standings: 1. Lee, Taconic, McCann Tech 3-0; 4. Monument Mountain, Pittsfield, Mount Everett, 0-3.
