Hoosac Valley Softball Edges Mount Everett on Road

SHEFFIELD, Mass. -- Madi Puppolo went the distance in the circle and scored the winning run in the top of the seventh to lead the Hoosac Valley softball team to a 9-8 win over Mount Everett on Thursday.
 
Puppolo tripled in the seventh and came home on a hit by Logan Stansfield, who finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
 
Riley Bishop went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs for the Hurricanes.
 
Gwendolyn Carpenter, Madison Ullrich and Jaclyn Derwitsch each went 2-for-4 for the Eagles (1-2).
 
Faith Angell struck out five in the circle for Mount Everett.
 
Puppolo struck out three while scattering seven hits to earn the win for the Hurricanes (1-0), which hosts Mount Greylock on Friday.
 
Mount Everett hosts Lenox on Monday.
