Solid Defense Helps Wahconah Edge Mount Greylock

DALTON, Mass. – Taylar Hickey tripled and drove in a run, and Avery Vale-Cruz struck out 13 Wednesday to lead the Wahconah softball team to a 4-0 win over Mount Greylock.
 
Vale-Cruz helped her cause with a single and an RBI, and Casey Wilson also drove in a run in a five-hit Wahconah attack.
 
“Great game,” Wahconah coach Dustin Belcher said. “Both pitchers had a good day in the circle. We played very well defensively and had some great at-bats today. I was very proud of the way we competed against a good Greylock team.”
 
Kami Sweet struck out seven and allowed three earned runs for the Mounties
 
Mount Greylock got just two hits, from Malia Koffi and Emma Newberry.
 
The Mounties (3-3) look to go over .500 on Thursday when they host Greenfield.
 
Wahconah (7-0) hosts Frontier on Thursday.
