LEE, Mass. -- The Pittsfield girls' basketball team picked a bad time of the season to hit a slump on the offensive end. The Generals struggled on offense for the second game in a row, scoring just six points in the second half on their way to a 38-21 loss at Lee.

The Wildcats (13-5, 7-1) swept the three-game series against Pittsfield (12-6, 4-4) and remained one game ahead of Drury in the North Division standings. Senior forward Stephanie Young returned from injury and made a big difference for Lee, which broke away from the Generals with a 14-0 run in the final quarter. The hosts led 20-15 at halftime, but Pittsfield played strong defense in the third quarter to hold the Wildcats to four points and make it a one-possession game heading into the fourth.

"Despite foul trouble, our bench outscored Lee 6-4 in the third quarter," Generals head coach Joe Racicot said. "Stephanie Young shot 8 for 10 from the charity stripe in the fourth quarter, though, helping the Wildcats go on a big run. We had many opportunities but didn't capitalize. The last two games we've had some outstanding scoring opportunities but, unfortunately, we are not capitalizing on those chances to score."

Young ended up sinking 11 free throws in the game on her way to a game-high 21 points. Junior Dominique Satrape led Pittsfield with six points, while sophomore forward Lauren Carnevale came through with four points and a team-high 12 rebounds. Senior center Rachael Hunt also snagged 12 boards for the visitors, but she was held scoreless for the second game in a row.

The Generals face another tough test on Monday with a road game against Drury at 7:30 p.m.
