Adelson & Company names Leibinger-Healey, Mullin Managers

Pittsfield – Pittsfield natives Carol Leibinger-Healey and Tanya M. Mullin, both certified public accountants, have been named managers at Adelson & Company, P.C. The firm is one of the leading public accounting firms in Western Massachusetts, specializing in audits of nonprofit and governmental organizations and privately owned businesses. “We’re promoting Carol and Tanya because they are well-deserving, long-term employees who have demonstrated excellent organization and management skills in meeting the objectives of this firm and the clients we serve,” said Richard Jette, managing director. “Working with our other professional staff, they are responsible for the favorable report we achieved on our last peer review, conducted by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.” Leibinger-Healey has been with Adelson & Company for more than eight years. As audit manager, she’s responsible for the overall planning, supervision and review of nonprofit, governmental and small business audits. She’s a graduate of Pittsfield High School, Berkshire Community College and Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, where she earned a double major in Accounting and Finance, and was a member of Alpha Chi Honor Society. Leibinger-Healey has been a board member of the Gladys Allen Brigham Community Center (formerly Girls Incorporated of the Berkshires) for more than six years, chaired its largest fund-raiser (the “Bizarre Bazaar!”) from 2000 to 2004, and is now the organization’s treasurer. She’s also a 2005 graduate of the Berkshire Leadership Program and recently joined Toastmasters. She resides in Pittsfield with her husband, Michael, and their daughter, Lauren. Mullin, a QuickBooks Certified Professional Advisor, has been with Adelson & Company for nine years. As tax and small business manager, she’s responsible for supervision and review of staff in the preparation of tax returns, as well as QuickBooks consulting and training, and year-end tax planning and projections. A graduate of St. Joseph Central High School, she earned an associate’s degree in Business Administration and Phi Theta Kappa honors at Berkshire Community College, a cum laude bachelor’s degree in Management and Beta Gamma Sigma honors at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a master’s degree in Accounting at Western New England College. Mullin is secretary of the Sacred Heart Pastoral Council, and was an original member of the Berkshire Young Professionals Steering Committee. She lives in Pittsfield with her husband, John, and their children, Edward and Thomas. Both Leibinger-Healey and Mullin are members of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Adelson & Company has served Berkshire County clients since 1938. The company employs 13 – six of whom are CPAs – with Richard LaFleche serving as director of taxes and audits of privately owned businesses and Vincent Viscuso as director of audits of not for profit and governmental organizations. The firm has been expanding in its niche areas of audit and related services to performing arts organizations, museums, health care and elder service groups, transportation agencies and retirement plan audits required under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) regulations.

Friends of Great Barrington Libraries Holiday Book Sale

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Friends of Great Barrington Libraries invite the community to shop their annual Holiday Good-as-New Book Sale, happening now through the end of the year at the Mason Library, 231 Main Street. 
 
With hundreds of curated gently used books to choose from—fiction, nonfiction, children's favorites, gift-quality selections, cookbooks, and more—it's the perfect local stop for holiday gifting.
 
This year's sale is an addition to the Southern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce's Holiday Stroll on this Saturday, Dec. 13, 3–8 PM. Visitors can swing by the Mason Library for early parking, browse the sale until 3:00 PM, then meet Pete the Cat on the front lawn before heading downtown for the Stroll's shopping, music, and festive eats.
 
Can't make the Holiday Stroll? The book sale is open during regular Mason Library hours throughout December.
 
Proceeds support free library programming and events for all ages.
