Dental Practice Adds to Team

LEE, Mass. — Dr. Bethany Stewart has joined the dental practice of Dr. Jay Wise.

“I’m pleased to welcome Dr. Stewart to our team,” said Wise. “She is a great addition to the practice, the town of Lee and the greater Berkshire community. We offer complementary skills and a full range of treatment options for people of all ages.”

Stewart was born and raised in eastern New York and has resided in Pittsfield since 2007 with her husband, Dr. John-Michael Stewart, a local oral surgeon. She attended LeMoyne College in Syracuse, N.Y., prior to attending Boston University School of Dental Medicine and Baylor College of Dentistry, in Dallas, Texas, where she received her doctor of dental surgery degree in 2001. Before relocating to the Berkshires, she owned a successful private practice in Southlake, Texas.Stewart is an active member of the Berkshire District Dental Society. Outside of the office, she enjoys family activities with their three boys, as well as skiing, yoga, Pilates,and running.

“I feel extremely fortunate to be joining Dr. Wise and his terrific staff. My goal is to provide the finest quality care and a great dental experience for our patients,” Stewart said.


Wise has been practicing dentistry at 31 Park Plaza for 29 years. Combining a personal commitment to patient comfort and care, the practice uses the latest technology and advances in dentistry. Office hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The dental practice is accepting new patients and referrals.

Multiple Departments Respond to Lanesborough Structure Fire

LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — Multiple fire departments responded to a structure fire off Narragansett Avenue on Wednesday afternoon. 

The Fire Department received a call from the owner of 6 Bangor St. reporting smoke and flames at around 1:44 p.m.

Firefighters arriving on scene reported heavy smoke emanating from the 1940s single-family ranch home in the thickly settled neighborhood.

The blaze was brought under control in less than an hour and there were no civilian or firefighter injuries. 

"The homeowner was outside doing some work, evidently, opened the door when she came back in the house, and there were flames and smoke, so she backed out and called us, and that's all we know right now," Deputy Fire Chief Glen Storie said around 2:35 p.m. 

The fire was out at that time, and first responders observed "quite a bit of damage" to the home. The cause is still under investigation. 

Lanesborough, Cheshire, and Pittsfield departments responded to the scene, and Hancock covered the station during the call. 

"The first crew in knocked the fire right down with the first engine," Storie said. 

Smoke could be seen coming from the back of the home. Part of Narragansett Avenue and Bangor Avenue were blocked off while firefighters battled the blaze.
