NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Community Health Programs is expanding its healthcare network by bringing dental services to its medical practice location at 71 Hospital Ave. The newly named CHP North Adams Family Medicine and Dental Center will welcome new patients beginning in mid-March.

"We look forward to welcoming new patients at our North Adams dental office," said Lia Spiliotes, CEO of Community Health Programs, which also has dental practices in Pittsfield and Great Barrington and medical and wrap-around services throughout Berkshire County. "By offering both medical and dental at one site, we are able to continue our practice of whole-person care to our patients and provide easy access to providers."

Spiliotes said CHP is working closely with Pittsfield based Hillcrest Dental Care.

"Hillcrest had no plans to close its North Berkshire site, but after we learned that CHP was expanding their dental services, we at Hillcrest decided it makes sense for us to close our North Adams facility, knowing the community would be well-served," said Gerard Burke, president/CEO of Hillcrest Dental Care, Inc.

There will be several months of overlap between CHP's opening and HDC's North Adams facility closing.

CHP North Adams Family Medical and Dental Center will share offices, reception and support staff on the third floor of the 71 Hospital Ave. The dental center will initially have office hours three days a week, staffed by a dentist, dental hygienist and dental assistant.

Clarksburg Sees Race for Select Board Seat

CLARKSBURG, Mass. — The town will see a three-way race for a seat on the Select Board in May.

Colton Andrews, Seth Alexander and Bryana Malloy returned papers by Wednesday's deadline to run for the three-year term vacated by Jeffrey Levanos.

Andrews ran unsuccessfully for School Committee and is former chairman of the North Adams Housing Authority, on which he was a union representative. He is also president of the Pioneer Valley Building Trades Council.

Malloy and Alexander are both newcomers to campaigning. Malloy is manager of industrial relations for the Berkshire Workforce Board and Alexander is a resident of Gates Avenue.

Alexander also returned papers for several other offices, including School Committee, moderator, library trustee and the five-year seat on the Planning Board. He took out papers for War Memorial trustee and tree warden but did not return them and withdrew a run for Board of Health.

He will face off in the three-year School Committee seat against incumbent Cynthia Brule, who is running for her third term, and fellow newcomer Bonnie Cunningham for library trustee.

Incumbent Ronald Boucher took out papers for a one-year term as moderator but did not return them. He was appointed by affirmation in 2021 when no won ran and accepted the post again last year as a write-in.
