CJ Garner won a seat on the Board of Health as well as returning to office as constable.
CHESHIRE, Mass. — Mark Biagini and Jason Levesque received the most votes Monday to win seats on the Board of Selectmen.

After polls closed at 7 Monday night, Biagini and Levesque were the clear winners with Biagini receiving 270 votes to edge out Donna DeFino's 212.

"It was a clean race, no one went after each other," Biagini said. "Donna did a great job and I knew it was going to be a close race. I am looking forward to taking over and seeing what I can do."

While Biagini secured the three-year seat vacated by longtime Selectwoman Carol Francesconi, Levesque took the one-year term left by Town Administrator Edmund St. John IV, who quit last fall to apply for his current post.

"It's pretty amazing," Levesque said. "I didn't expect this. Now it's time to work."

Levesque took 352 votes while opponent E. Richard Scholz earned 145 votes.

This will bring the board back up to three members and present new faces along with now veteran Selectman Robert Ciskowski, who was first elected in 2014 to complete a term and won re-election a second three-term last year against Biagini.

The town also voted to accept legislation that would increase the size of the Board of Selectmen from three to five members. This passed with 266 votes in favor and 209 in the negative.

Incumbent Michael "Mickey" Biagini Jr. lost his seat on the Board of Health to challenger Christopher "CJ" Garner who had 287 votes to Biagini's 215.

Richard Francesconi and Stephen LaFogg locked up the two open Cemetery Commission seats with 313 and 367 votes, respectively. Julie Ciskowski received the least amount of votes with 167.

The last race on the ballot was for the tree town constable positions. Incumbents CJ Garner, Alison Warner, and Robert Copeland held their positions. Newcomer Jason Hoellerich came in fourth with 260 votes.

Northern Berkshire Vocational School District incumbent William Craig held his seat unopposed and DeFino took the moderator position unopposed.

Running unopposed were Nancy Delorey for the Board of Assessors; Ronald DeAngelis for Water Commission and incumbent Peter Traub for Planning Board.

Voter was about the same as last year's town election, with 21.5 percent of the 2,376 or the registered voters casting 511 votes in total. About 200 had been cast by 1 p.m. on Monday. Election workers were still toting up write-ins for Adams-Cheshire Regional School Committee. See iBerkshires tomorrow for full results.
