New Lebanon Swimmers Open with Sweep

NEW LEBANON, N.Y. -- Most Berkshire County teams get their seasons started on Thursday, but the county swim league got underway Tuesday afternoon across the state line, where the New Lebanon boys and girls swept Hudson.
In the girls meet, Kiley Danforth won the 100-yard freestyle and the 500 free to help the girls to a 54-16 win.
Danforth touched in 1 minute, 21.35 seconds in the 100 and finished the 500 in 8:56.50.
The Tigers also got wins from Alayna Haviland (3:21.47) in the 200 free, Chloe Meyers (3:10.41) in the 200 individual medley and Jasmine Sealise (39.92) in the 50 free.
New Lebanon's girls took first place in the two contested relays, the 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay.
Matt Kluck took a pair of events to help New Lebanon's boys to a 37-11 win.
Kluck won the 100 free in 1:08.37 and the 100 backstroke in 1:38.17.
Liam Buckenroth won the 50 free in 30.50, swam a leg on New Lebanon's winning medley relay quartet and swam an unopposed time of 6:57.58 in the 500 free.

Sotek, Seyerlein Lead New Lebanon Girls Swim Team to Victory Sports
NEW LEBANON, N.Y. -- Alex Sotek and Abby Seyerlein each won a pair of events Friday to lead the New Lebanon girls swim team to its first win over Mount Anthony in more than 13 years, a 56-35 decision.
Sotek won the 100-yard butterfly in 1 minute, 4.35 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 1:05.56.
Seyerlein won the 500 freestyle (7:23.25) and the 100 breaststroke (1:35.80).
Natasha Kopek won a pair of events for the Patriots: the 50 freestyle (28.65) and the 100 free (1:05.55).
