LONDONDERRY, N.H. – The Greylock Thunder 18U travel softball team Saturday bounced back from its first loss in pool play to earn a 7-2 win and earn a 3-1 record at the New England Fusion College Showcase.
Greylock’s day started against the Connecticut Lightning, which jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first and went on to a 3-1 victory.
Marlee Arnhold (1-for-2) drove in Evelyn Julieano (1-for-2) for the Thunder’s run in the top of the fifth.
Arnhold also went the distance in the circle, striking out four and walking just one in five innings of work.
Greylock went right back to work against the Plex Gold Pelletier out of Bedford, N.H.
The Thunder used a five-run second inning to take control and went on to a 7-2 win.
Paxton Ebling and Emma Lemire led the offense.
Ebling went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs. Lemire finished the game 2-for-2 in a six-hit Thunder attack.
Abby Soto was 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs.
Lemire went five innings in the circle to earn the complete-game win, allowing just one earned run.
Greylock opens bracket play in the 17-team tournament on Sunday.

Greylock Thunder 18U Splits Pair in Tournament

MEDFORD, N.J. -- The Greylock Thunder 18-and-under travel softball team Saturday split a pair of games at the John Biasi Memorial Super 72 tournament.
In their third game of the tournament on Saturday morning, Marlee Arnhold and Emma Lemire combined to strike out five and scatter four hits in a 5-0 win over the Empire State Huskies.
Kenadi Arnhold doubled and drove in a pair of runs, and Nevaeh Lopez, Grace Julieano and Gianna Witek each singled and scored a run.
The Thunder then faced the CGA Hawks, who scored three runs in the top of the fifth to earn a 6-4 win.
Izzy Tart went 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Kaleigh Jaros doubled for Greylock.
On Sunday, the Thunder is scheduled to face the Rock Gold and the Athletes Impact, both of Pennsylvania.
