This season will bring the return of popular series Images Under the Stars, National Theatre Live, Nightmare on Spring Street, and Wet Hot Images Summer, as previously announced.

Also previously announced was Images' participation in Summer at the '62 Center, with our Summer of Sondheim, a new retrospective series featuring film adaptations connected to Williams College alum and musical theater legend Stephen Sondheim, taking place at the Mainstage at the '62 Center.

Images Cinema announced an additional event at the '62 Center this summer, a special highlight of the season, which is to be a benefit for Images Cinema. Williams alum John Sayles will present a special reunion screening of his landmark film "Matewan" on Saturday July 25 at 4pm at the '62 Center MainStage. A post-screening Q&A will take place immediately following, moderated by local filmmaker and archivist Rich Remsburg.

"Matewan" cast members currently confirmed to attend the screening and participate in the moderated Q&A are Williamstown native Maggie Renzi, Oscar-nominee David Strathairn, and Oscar-winner Chris Cooper. Additional participants may be announced at a future date.

"We're so excited to bring back John, Maggie, and David for another special event here in Williamstown," said Dan Hudson, Executive Director. "One of the top requests I've heard from members over the past few years is 'When are you going to do something with John Sayles again?', and I'm glad to say that not only is that day finally here, but we're going big!"

General admission tickets for the event will be $45, proceeds will benefit Images Cinema. Members of Images Cinema will have the opportunity to get early access to a pre-sale at a reduced rate of $40. The member pre-sale will begin Wednesday June 10th, and the tickets to the general public will go on-sale Wednesday June 17th.

Williamstown Police Looking into Damage at Post Office

Staff Reports
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Police are looking into property damage at the U.S. Post Office on Spring Street.

On June 28, the Police Department received a report from a member of the Williamstown Garden Club, who was watering flowers at the Post Office and, "noticed that a granite slab had been displaced and a metal grate had been damaged," according to a police report.

Officer David Jennings responded to the scene and reported that it, "appeared that a vehicle or piece of machinery had struck the granite slab, causing it to shift into the metal grate and bend it," Jennings wrote.

By the middle of July, the damage to the grate was still apparent.

Williamstown Police contacted the postmaster, who said he would notify his supervisor about the damage.

Police Chief Michael Ziemba on Wednesday confirmed there is no closed-circuit television footage that provides details on how the damage occurred.

The damage is estimated to be worth about $500, according to the police report.
