E. Sylvia Morawiec

E. Sylvia Morawiec, 85, formerly of 1 East St., died Friday afternoon at Sweet Brook Care Center in Williamstown. Born in Civitavechia, Italy on March 14, 1921, daughter of Emilio and Italia Lippi Mazzantini, she attended schools in Civitavechia, graduating from the high school there, and then attended and graduated from the University of Pisa in Tuscany, Italy. She taught school in various communities in Italy and was also a social worker for the Provence of Livorno, Italy. In September of 1947, she came to United States and settled in Adams, and was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams for several years. Then, with her husband, she established a catering business, catering to local establishments for 13 years. Together they also operated the Hill Top Restaurant in Plainfield for several years, retiring in 1980. She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church. Mrs. Morawiec was prominent in the Republican party and was a delegate to the state convention. She was a member of the ITAM lodge/Sons of Italy in Pittsfield. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, cooking, crossword puzzles, playing cards and playing the piano. Her husband, Casimer Morawiec, whom she married Dec. 3, 1946, in Livorno, Italy, died Sept. 29, 1975. She leaves three daughters, Joan Dario of Dalton, Linda Pregest of Pennsylvania, and Julie Heritage of Adams; a sister, Emma Casadio of Genova, Italy; a brother, Emilio Ezo Mazzantini of Adams; seven grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for E. Sylvia Morawiec, who died Friday, May 5, 2006, will take place Thursday, May 11,at 9 a.m. from TROTTIER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus' Church in Adams, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Catholic Community of Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus' Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Donations in her memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Association through the funeral home, 6 Summer St., Adams, MA 01220. She leaves three sons-in-law, Gino, Thomas and David, and several nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Ester and Evelina Mazzantini, predeceased her. She enjoyed her many friends and family.
