GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- The Hoosac Valley boys' soccer team was able to beat the snow storm on Saturday, but couldn't avoid losing to Monument Mountain 4-0 on the road.

The Hurricanes (1-12-2) kept the Spartans off of the board for most of the first half until the hosts broke through for a pair of goals late in the period. Danny Huertas got things started for Monument by finishing off a pass from Lucas Wartella in the 29th minute. Four minutes later, Nick Masiero scored the first of his two goals unassisted to give the Spartans a 2-0 lead at the break.

Chris Peretti increased Monument's lead to 3-0 with a goal nine minutes into the second half. Derek Graves then connected with Masiero for another strike seven minutes later to close out the scoring. Aaron House made two saves in goal to earn the shutout in goal for the Spartans, while Tom Galisa stopped 14 shots in a losing effort for Hoosac.

Head coach Nate Girard credited senior Austin Felter for putting in a solid game on defensive end for the Hurricanes, who close out the regualar season with a game at Wahconah on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
