Mount Greylock Girls Place 2nd at State Meet
DANVERS, Mass. -- Mount Greylock's girls and boys placed second and third, respectively, at the Division 3 State Championships on Saturday.
Cornelia Swabey and Bridget Holland placed 27th and 29th in a 181-girl field as the Mounties compiled a score of 146 to finish 10 points behind team champion Greater Lowell Tech.
Lenox's girls finished three places behind Mount Greylock in fifth place with the three fastest Berkshire County runners in the field: Gianna Love (14th), Nora Schoeney (15th) and Elyssa Scrimo (22nd).
Monument Mountain's girls also qualified as a team for the final meet of the fall season; the Spartans placed 17th out of 23 teams in action.
The first girl across the finish line on Saturday was Rosie Bradley of Bromfield with a time of 18 minutes, 31.29 seconds over the 5,000-meter course.
In the boys D3 race, Patrick Holland finished eighth as an individual to lead Mount Greylock to the bronze.
2024 individual champ Everett Pacheco, running as an individual, placed sixth to lead a trio of Berkshire County finishers in the top 10.
Also running as an individual, Pittsfield High's Cohen Zahn just missed the top 10, placing 12th. Wahconah's Noah Wesley and Taconic's Collin Norton were 43rd and 50th, respectively, out of 188 boys in the field.
Nathaniel Hensaw of Parker Charter pulled ahead over the last 100 meters to win the indivudal title with a time of 15 minutes, 43.51 seconds and lead his team to a team championship.
Parker Charter finished well ahead of the boys field with 75 points. Bromfield was second with 128 followed by the Mounties with 138.
Lenox's boys placed ninth with 231 points behind a ninth-place showing by Benjamin Harwood.
