PITTSFIELD, Mass. —  It wasn't a work of art, but the result was impressive enough for the Drury softball team, which rallied from a 5-1 deficit to earn an 11-8 win at Taconic on Wednesday.

The Blue Devils (8-1) committed four errors and allowed 11 hits in game played in cold, windy conditions. A sloppy start helped the Braves (2-6) to a 5-1 lead after two innings, but Drury rallied back with five runs in the top of third inning to take a one-run lead. Lyndsey DeGrenier, Danielle Cardinal, Emily Moulton and Amber Iacuessa each had an RBI in the third for the Blue Devils, which padded its lead by scoring three more times in the top of the fourth.

Taconic cut the lead to 9-7 with two runs in the bottom of the frame, but Mary Ann Maroni's club sealed the deal by scoring two more times in the top of the fifth. Junior shortstop Laryssa LaPointe had a key RBI triple in the fifth inning and led the Drury attack by going 3-for-4 with three runs scored, a walk and a stolen base.

"The weather certainly impacted the play in this game," Maroni said. "There were 11 physical errors recorded on the day which didn't account for the mental errors committed. It was difficult conditions for both teams and a strange game played under very adverse weather conditions."

DeGrenier also had a solid day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored. She also walked twice and stole a pair of bases, while sophomore Cat Record finished 2-for-4 with one RBI. Record also earned the win on the mound, improving her season record to 8-1 this year. While it wasn't her most dominant performance, Record did clinch the victory by pitching two scoreless innings to end the game. She ended up allowing five earned runs on 11 hits, striking out four and walking six.

Amanda Ely led the Braves by going 3-for 3-with an RBI. Kristen Nadeau and Kristin Wassermann both had RBI singles in the first for Taconic, which also received a triple from Emily Wojtkowski.

The Devils are back in action again on Thursday, when they travel to Vermont to take on Brattleboro at 4 p.m.
