Athlete Of The Week: Caroline Tomkowicz

Hoosac Valley's Caroline Tomkowicz led the Hurricanes to a 2-1 week, including their first two victories of the season. They were also the first two career wins for Tomkowicz, who started the week off by throwing a complete-game one-hitter in a 2-0 victory over St. Joe's. The sophomore hurler struck out 13 batters and walked just one batter in six innings of work. 

Tomkowicz followed that peformance up with a complete-game, two-hitter in a 14-0 win over Lee on Wednesday. She struck out nine batters without allowing a walk and also went 2-for-4 from the plate with two runs scored and three RBIs. 

Closed out the week with another great pitching performance in a 3-0 extra-inning loss to cousin Heather Tomkowicz and Mount Greylock. Caroline threw seven scoreless innings with only two hits and zero walks before running into trouble in the top of the eighth. She ended up striking eight batters in the game while allowing four hits and two walks overall. 

In just four appearances this season, Tomkowicz has given up a grand total of two earned runs. She has 33 strikeouts compared to just three walks, leaving her with a 2-1 record and prestine 0.61 ERA.
