City Man Charged in Marshall Street Crash

iBerkshires.com Staff
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – A city man is facing charges in connection with a Thursday crash that damaged two buildings on Marshall Street.

John Miner, of North Adams, who police said is in his 40s, has been charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation and wanton destruction of property after his pickup truck crashed into Brewster’s antique shop and damaged nearby Trés Niños Taqueria.

According to North Adams Police Chief Mark Bailey, Miner was traveling on St. Anthony’s Drive and turned left onto Marshall Street.

“As he was turning onto Marshall Street, Miner began revving his engine, causing his tires to start to lose traction and his back end began to fish-tail,” Bailey said. “Miner lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the businesses on Marshall Street.

“Witnesses on scene said that they could hear a vehicle burning out before hearing the crash.”

Bailey said that Miner was not wearing his seat belt at the time of his accident but a passenger in his vehicle was. The passenger was treated for injury at the scene but not taken to the hospital.

Both businesses impacted by the crash remain closed.
