Does anyone know whether the Time reporter and photographer were for the hardcopy of Time magazine or the online version?
Editor: It appears to be in both according to the Web site, but I have not seen the paper copy. See the links above.
What's going on with this page? I just tried to read it and there is multiple layers of text making it illegible.
Editor: It appears to be an Internet Explorer problem that we thought was fixed. Aargh! Try using Mozilla's Firefox browser. We've haven't had issues with Firefox. Update: I think I fixed it. Hopefully, it will stick.
Yes, there is an article on Time.Com .... and there's a full-page article in the hardcopy of Time Magazine which just arrived (the January 19, 2009 issue).
I could not be more proud to be a Polish Catholic than at this moment. My family has many special memories in the Church and I am only sorry that I can not be there to support the efforts of the brave and faithful people of the Parish. The Parish and the town of Adams are in the prayers of my family. This is not simply about the closing of a Church. It is a about the wrongful and misdirected closing of a Church. Anyone who reads the research can see that.
Please take a look at this site about the unique stained glass window found at St. Stanislaus Church. The frescoes as well as all the other beautiful artifacts makes this worth keeping. Who would ever be able to appreciate the beauty of so many artists if churches were closed in other parts of the world? We would not be able to see the beauty of the Sistine Chapel if it had been closed. We need to cherish and respect not only our heritage but the sacrifices people made so that the generations to follow would have something to be proud of.
Stand up and support the keeping of St. Stanislaus Church open and intact.
I went to St. Stans for ten years of my life, preschool to eight grade and i graduated from there. I believe that St. Stans should not be shut down that that is just rediculous. The church and school is wonderful and should stay up for all the parents who are putting their children through there because if the church is closed their wont be any pagents or church ceremonies and st stans just wont be the same. KEEP THE CHURCH OPEN....U CANT CLOSE ST STANS. KEEP FIGHTING EVERYONE IM HERE ALSO FIGHTING!!!
Why don't you people do something constructive like the parishioners of St. Thomas have done instead of whining, disobeying church hierarchy and continuing your crackpot sit-in? When faced with the same dilemma of their church being closed and consolidated, the parishioners of St. Thomas took their lemons and made lemonade by organizing a successful and much needed food and clothing resource for the people who are hurting and out of work. Shame on you St. Stan's [deleted] for conducting this pointless waste of time instead of demonstrating your faith!!!!
While visiting New England my husband and I visited St. Stanislaus Kostka church and could not believe what an art treasure it is. The beauty of the church is what you would expect to see in Europe. This church should be kept as a treasure for the people who's families have sacrified to create it and for all people to visit and enjoy. What a priceless inspirational church. The beauty of this church takes your breath away.
ADAMS, Mass. — Owner of 57 Park Street, Lea King, announced she was retiring and clearing out her gift and boba tea shop.
King moved to Berkshire County eight years ago, first renovating and reopening the historic Wigwam in North Adams with her partner, Wayne Gelinas, and then the gift shop in Adams. She saw the boba tea shop as a way to bring some of her culture to the community.
King opened the shop in March 2023 and reopened it in the summertime for people to enjoy drinks and buy local gift items.
"Over the past three seasons I've loved making boba tea and smoothies, teaching people about boba pearls, and chatting with everyone who stopped by. Many customers even became friends, which made this little shop extra special," she wrote. Over the next few weeks I’ll be clearing out the shop, and everything will be priced below cost. If you enjoy a bargain or would like to stop by to say hi and bye, feel free."
King announced on Facebook on Sunday that it is time for her to "fully embrace retirement and focus on family and new adventures."
"Thank you for the conversations, laughs, and friendships," she wrote. "Adams will always hold a special place in my heart."
