GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Construct announced that it is offering a Zoom-based webinar, open to the public, on Tuesday, Dec. 14 at 7:00 P.M, where team members will discuss how affordable housing works in the community.

The webinar panelists will focus on their work related to affordable housing and support services and will respond to the audience's questions.

According to a press release: the COVID-19 pandemic has underscored how precious basic necessities are -clothes, food, shelter. For many residents, reliable, safe, and quality housing can be hard to find. Affordable housing creates pathways for community members to thrive and contribute, and it's in high demand.

Participants will learn how affordable housing operates in Massachusetts from two  experts on the topic, Construct's Executive Director, Jane Ralph, and Housing Director, June Wolf.

"Right now, many in our community are faced with great challenges," said Executive Director Jane Ralph.  "I look forward to hearing from residents and seeing how Construct can help them stabilize and thrive in the coming months."

The webinar with Construct will take place on Zoom on Tuesday, Dec. 14 at 7:00 PM.  Zoom login credentials can be accessed using this link: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUsdeGvpzgqHdLvuNvVrhcBUu7mWG7Z_gou

State Closes Brookside Road Bridge

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.— Brookside Road bridge was closed today following a routine inspection by the MA Department of Transportation.

Town Public Works Superintendent Joe Aberdale said the DOT inspection report now requires further state review and that there is no information yet on a timeline for reopening. Brookside Road is located south of town and runs east to Brush Hill Road and Boardman Street.

Aberdale said load limits on the older, trestle bridge have been disregarded for some years by heavy vehicles. He said that usage has likely taken a toll on the span over the Housatonic River.

Southbound drivers heading to Brush Hill and the north end of Boardman Street will need to travel further south on Route 7 to Kellogg Road and then onto Boardman Street, heading north.

"We will keep residents informed as we learn more from the state DOT," said Aberdale.
