Free Wild Edible Plant Hike in Great Barrington

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Join Russ Cohen, author of the book "Wild Plants I Have Known…and Eaten," and Berkshire Environmental Action Team (BEAT) for a 3-hour hike in the BNRC's Alford Springs Reserve on Sunday, June 8, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM.

Participants will learn about at least two dozen species of edible wild plants. Keys to the identification of each species will be provided, along with info on edible portion(s), season(s) of availability and preparation methods, as well as general guidelines for safe, ethical, and environmentally-responsible foraging.

Be Advised: The planned loop for the hike is somewhat strenuous, with substantial elevation gain and loss, so this walk is recommended only for fit participants with the proper hiking gear.

Daytime Construction Operations on I-90

STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing daytime bridge repairs, bridge painting, and tree trimming on I-90 eastbound and westbound in the towns of Stockbridge, Becket, Russell, and Montgomery.

All work is weather-dependent and will take place at the following locations and times:

Stockbridge:

Bridge repairs will be conducted on I-90 westbound at mile marker 5.4 on Monday, Oct. 26, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Becket:

Bridge painting will be conducted on I-90 eastbound and westbound at mile marker 20.0 from Monday, Oct. 26, through Friday, Oct. 30, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Tree trimming will be conducted on I-90 westbound from mile marker 14.8 to mile marker 12.0 on Wednesday, Oct. 28, and Thursday, Oct.29, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Russell:

Tree trimming will be conducted on I-90 eastbound from mile marker 34.1 to mile marker 36.0 on Monday, Oct. 26, and Tuesday, Oct. 27, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Montgomery/Russell:
